The Flying Dutchman is a seaworthy, luxurious two-masted topsail schooner, built in 1903. She underwent a complete refit in 2003 and was converted into a comfortable and welcoming passenger sailing ship. Extensive modern safety and navigation technology has since enabled the Flying Dutchman to sail all over the world. She has crossed the oceans several times in recent years, sailing to Croatia, Ireland, and Cape Verde.

The Flying Dutchman is large enough for a comfortable stay and small enough to explore hidden gems. Sailing is one of the oldest ways to travel; it is also environmentally friendly and perfectly suited to Scotland. We won’t always be able to sail to reach every place we want to see, but when it is possible, it’s a truly
unique experience! No sailing experience is necessary – the experienced crew will give you instructions and are happy to show you everything. It’s also great fun to pull on the ropes together!
With eleven cabins of varying sizes, the Flying Dutchman accommodates 20 guests . All cabins are equipped with a private shower, toilet, and sink. Two of the cabins are single cabins, six are standard cabins, and three are comfort cabins, offering slightly more space than the others.
Inside the Flying Dutchman, great attention was paid to detail during the refit to create the typical cozy atmosphere of traditional sailing ships. The forward saloon in the deckhouse serves as a dining and lounge area; it also houses a bar. In keeping with the style of traditional sailing ships, the saloon features dark wood and upholstered settees. Windows offer excellent views outside. There is also ample seating and some covered areas on the outer decks, allowing us to dine al fresco. The weather in Scotland is sometimes better than you’d expect!
